DESCRIPTION:

Day 1: Our travels west begin with a stop at the delightful Green Giant Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Jolly Green Giant memorabilia — a fun and nostalgic way to kick off the trip! Settle in after taking in scenic views at our overnight in Fairmont, MN.

Day 2: Today we cross into South Dakota, stopping at the historic prairie landmark Al’s Oasis for lunch and time to browse local shops. Visit the legendary Wall Drug, where you can explore endless souvenirs, enjoy homemade treats, and experience a true roadside tradition. We arrive in the Old West town of Deadwood for our overnight stay.

Day 3: Explore Deadwood’s colorful past and visit Tatanka: Story of the Bison, honoring the great bison herds and Native American history. Step back in time aboard the historic 1880 Train, a scenic steam locomotive ride through pine-covered hills and rugged rock formations. Experience a truly patriotic moment at the evening lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore.

Day 4: Return to Mount Rushmore in daylight for a closer look and photo opportunities. Next, we visit the impressive Crazy Horse Memorial, still in progress and honoring Native American history followed by a Jeep Buffalo Ride through Custer State Park, where roaming bison and wildlife make this a true highlight of the trip.

Day 5: Today we drive the scenic loop through Badlands National Park, taking in its dramatic rock formations and sweeping prairie views. We also stop at the colorful and unique Corn Palace, decorated with intricate murals made entirely of corn. Overnight in Sioux Falls.

Day 6: Stop at the famous SPAM Museum, where this iconic American product has its own fun and fascinating story.
