Volcanoes, Northern Lights and The Blue Lagoon

DESCRIPTION:

Day 1: Round trip home transportation provided. Board Icelandair for passage to Iceland.

​

Day 2: Visit a Viking History Museum and stop at a geothermal power station to learn about green energy. Begin our Northern Lights educational program with an expert guide's seminar on the Lights. Later, soak in the hotel's outdoor hot tubs and enjoy a sky-light spectacular show known as the Aurora Borealis (weather permitting).

Day 3: Visit the Volcano and Earthquake Center to learn about the epic forces of nature that shape our planet and created Iceland 20 million years ago. Visit a black lava beach and an Icelandic wool factory and outlet store. Stop at the Skogafoss waterfall. After dinner, continue our Northern Lights educational program with a video presentation.

Day 4: Depart for Pingvellir National Park. Continue to Gullfoss and the Guyser geothermalfields with hot springs and bubbling pools. Visit seashore villages, taste shark meat, dried fish and Brennivin snaps. Enjoy a langoustine dinner in a seaside village restaurant followed by an outside watch for the magical Northern Lights.

Day 5: Today, Iceland awaits! Enjoy a city tour of Reykjavik. Meet the Icelandic horse. Boil an egg in a hot spring and taste bread baked with hot steam. Visit a man made ice cave. 

​

Day 6: Explore the Reykjanes peninsula and experience the unusual geological features: bird cliffs, moon-like landscapes, light houses and fishing villages. A wonderful lunch is shared to end our day. An optional visit to the Blue Lagoon for a long soak in its warm geothermal water is available for a fee. (Includes silica mud mask, use of towel and drink of your choice.)

Day 7: Leisurely morning in Reykavik for exploration on your own and evening flight to US.
